There’s No Place Like Bed

Autumn is such a wonderful season, full of change and a good time for reflection, awareness, and mindfulness. It’s also a perfect time to consider replacing your bed. There are many great reasons why buying a bed in the autumn can be really beneficial for you and your home! Why do I say this? Check these out:

  • Many retailers offer discounts and deals on beds and mattresses throughout autumn in order to clear out their inventory before the winter season. You can find some excellent bargains, saving money on a high-quality bed and mattress that meet your needs and likes — just by ordering online, from the comfort of your own home.
  • Since the days get colder and darker more early in the autumn, you’ll probably be yearning for your warm and cosy bed even more than usual as your body adjusts to the reduced amount of sunlight and cooler temperatures. For good measure, a good night’s sleep and a peaceful state of mind can be greatly improved by a bed that is both comfortable and inviting.
  • Investing in a new bed is a great way to improve your overall well-being by providing greater spinal and joint support and preventing dust mites and allergens from gathering in your bedding.
  • Depending on your space and preferences, you can select from a variety of stylish beds, including sturdy classic divans, more decorative bedsteads, and storage beds that feature useful space under the mattress. Revitalise your bedroom’s aesthetic by selecting warm, rich and earthy hues like khaki, brown, copper, mustard yellow, eggplant purple, and pumpkin orange.

No matter which bed you choose, you can create a snug sleep environment by making it extra cosy and charming with decorative pillows, soft blankets, duvets or quilts in lovely autumn-themed patterns and colours.

Sleep soundly to protect against illness

Individual needs for sleep vary, but most of us require between seven and nine hours per night — anything less will have an impact on how well you perform at work, causing problems with concentration, lack of energy and motivation, poor levels of attentiveness and productivity, impatience, and even mood disorders. In fact, one in seven Britons gets less than five hours of sleep each night, putting their health at risk and increasing the likelihood of heart disease, dementia, and diabetes.

Nothing really ‘mattress’ than a good night’s sleep

When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, one of the most difficult tasks is picking out the perfect mattress for your individual needs, and determining if the mattress will provide adequate support and pressure relief for your body.

A mattress made wholly or primarily of polyurethane foam (polyfoam) may be the best option for you if you want to sink into rather than relax on top of your bed. Memory foam mattresses have the ability to conform to the shape of your body, creating a comforting sensation that feels like a gentle hug. However, it is worth noting that this type of mattress can sometimes make you feel somewhat immobilised or stuck in one position.

Then there are non-memory foam mattresses. While it’s true that they may not offer the same level of supple-yet-supportive curve-contouring as memory foam types, they come with a particular advantage — they are exceptionally easy to move around on.

Finally, if sleeping on an all-foam mattress leaves you feeling too ‘sunk in’ or hot, an innerspring mattress made with strong steel coils layered with soft and cosy fibre and foam may provide excellent support and be a better option. They offer more resilience, firmer edges, and naturally provide better airflow.

It’s also all about finding the perfect match between your sleep position and the firmness level of the mattress. People who sleep on their side usually find medium-soft to medium mattresses to be the most comfortable while back-sleepers prefer medium-firm beds which provide support for the upper back, lower back, and hips, preventing the spine from bending. The same can be said for stomach sleepers who may like their mattress a little bit firmer to support the tummy while preventing the back from arching.

The truth is that your bed is where you spend approximately one-third of your life, so opt for one that is functional, comfortable and one that looks delightful in your bedroom.
